Patient Data for Research: Tools for UVA Researchers
This table summarizes tools available to UVA researchers to support analyses involving patient data (from the EMR/EHR and Cancer Registry). Click each resource title in the table to visit the related portal page for details about features and access requests. These tools are hosted on servers managed by UVA HIT (or contracted partner organizations).
The Research and Clinical Trial Analytics (RCTA) team provides data stewardship, and Public Health Science offers guidance and free consultations through PHS @ the Library office hours.

The diagram below illustrates the flow of data between the various resources listed above. All datasets can be indexed and stored in the controlled-access RDE for Health Research Private Data Enclave, and when appropriate, also made visible in the RDE for Health Research Public Data Commons.
