Advarra EDC (Electronic Data Capture system)
Advarra EDC at UVA
Advarra EDC (Electronic Data Capture) is a secure web application developed by Advarra for use in clinical trial data capture and management by participating sites and coordinating centers. It has been implemented at UVA in a HIPAA- and 21 CFR Part 11-compliant manner. It may be used with protocols/projects that are and are not FDA regulated. It is a PHI-free application that adheres to standard industry workflows.
Because it is secure and PHI-free, EDC offers a simpler access model for users than some other public-facing UVA systems.
What are EDC's features and capabilities?
EDC offers tools for researchers and research associates to collect, manage, and analyze clinical trials data including:
- ease of access for participating sites
- audit trails
- queries
- variety of form designs
- training for sites on forms and calendars before data entry begins
- biostatistician access
- multiple formats supported for data exports
EDC is designed for endpoint data capture, which occurs after informed consent. EDC does not offer eConsent. If your project requires eConsent, more information about REDCap is available here.
