iPrecision Immunomedicine (iPRIME)
This project aims to improve the clinical outcome by personalizing patient diagnosis and treatment based upon patient data and clinically actionable information gathered from the integration of basic and clinically-oriented research focused on immune mechanisms of disease utilizing cutting edge technology, advanced clinical imaging, and big data analytics.
There are currently many challenges to implementing precision health, including insufficient technologies, limited knowledge, and gaps in implementation. We propose to help overcome these through an interdisciplinary approach, leveraging strengths at UVA. We focus this initial effort on cardiovascular disease (CVD) to achieve rapid and sustained preeminence in the area of immunomedicine for CVD. Yet, our platform can clearly be expanded going forward to include other fields of precision health.
