Survey Building Tool: Qualtrics
What is Qualtrics and how can I use it in clinical research? Qualtrics at UVA provides FREE survey research capabilities to faculty, staff, and students (including, but not limited to, the Academic division and the UVA Medical Center.) This software package allows for robust survey composition with a multitude of question types, complex survey flow patterns, and the ability to complete authenticated surveys. Two Qualtrics portals are available: one for projects that involve only moderately sensitive data and the other for projects that will capture some highly sensitive data (including PHI).
How do I get an account? As an employee of UVA, you can provision yourself an account simply by logging in through Netbadge via the link on the ITS Web Qualtrics page. NOTE: When you log in, you will want to pick the link in the "Highly-sensitive Data" box if working with PHI.

Technical Questions - The first place to go when looking for support is UVA's Qualtrics support page. This page will route you to the best supporting group for your technical needs.
Data Security Questions - Send an email over to it-security@virginia.edu, and a member of the IT Policy & Compliance team can help you document your use of Qualtrics on your Data Security Plan as well as identify strategies for using Qualtrics with other systems.
I have students that are helping with my study. Can they get access to the Qualtrics HSD Research Portal? Yes! Send an email to qualtrics@virginia.edu with information regarding who needs access, and they can walk you through the forms that you need to sign.
Does UVA offer any in-person trainings? Yes! Free Qualtrics workshops are taught twice each year in the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library. Visit the library Research & Data Workshops listing listing for next available session.
