Build Your Data Management Plan
The DMPTool is a free, open-source, online application that helps researchers create data management plans. These plans, or DMPs, are now required by many funding agencies as part of the grant proposal submission process. The DMPTool provides a click-through wizard for creating a DMP that complies with funder requirements. It also has direct links to funder websites, help text for answering questions, and resources for best practices surrounding data management. Users of the DMPTool can view sample plans, preview funder requirements, and view the latest changes to their plans. The tool permits the user to create an editable document for submission to a funding agency and can accommodate different versions as funding requirements change. The DMPtool provides links to local UVa resources for guidance and help while developing your DMP. UVa researchers may use NetBadge and their UVa computing id to access the DMPTool here. The Research Data Management Group, part of the University of Virginia Library's Research Data Services & Sciences, is available to help with Data Management Plans for all UVa undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and researchers.
