The Center for Advanced Vision Science consists of three primary labs: The goal of Ambati's lab is to understand the molecular basis of macular degeneration in order to hasten the eradication of blindness. Gelfand's lab investigates various aspects of the blinding disease age-related macular degeneration, utilizing the tools of immunology, molecular biology, and engineering. Research in the \Kerur lab \is primarily geared towards identifying molecular triggers of innate immune pathways in age-related macular degeneration (AMD), with a goal of harnessing this information for developing AMD therapeutics.
