FUNDING: UVA Cancer Center Community Pilot Funding
The Cancer Center pilot project program has expanded significantly over the past two years since they received an increase in funding from the Commonwealth of Virginia. They are delighted to announce that the Cancer Center awarded 56 pilot projects across 18 RFAs for over $2.8M in FY23. They anticipate funding even more projects in FY24. This dwarfs the amount of pilot project funding at many Cancer Centers.
With the incredible growth of the pilot project program, they want to provide some information and encourage all of you to consider applying:
· The RFAs cover a wide range of areas aimed at promoting collaboration, impact, and leading-edge science through cancer-related research projects
· Applicants are funded at a much higher rate than extramural funding opportunities
· The awards are designed to support generating valuable data that can be leveraged into extramural grant applications
· Awards can be used to support trainee professional development
· You do not need to be a Cancer Center member to apply!
Starting in July 2023, the Cancer Center has implemented new policies to help standardize the process of applying for internal funding opportunities. Policies reminders include:
· All RFAs and applications will be run through our online portal, InfoReady
· A new annual RFA schedule with April, August, and December deadlines
· RFAs with a rolling submission still review applications based on the above schedule
· Late applications will not be accepted
We encourage you to explore and apply to our active funding opportunities. Contact the Cancer Center Internal Opportunities Team with any questions. We look forward to receiving your applications!
