Clinical Research Units
The Clinical Research Units provide a location and skilled staff for investigators conducting clinical and translational research at UVA. There are two CRU locations; one located in the Collins building in the West Complex and one at 560 Ray C Hunt Drive at Fontaine. Use of the space is open to all clinical translational researchers at UVA. Virtual research beds are available in the Medical Center for those subjects who require specialized medical / nursing care. Lab space for specimen processing and temporary specimen storage space is provided for research staff within the Health System at no charge to research teams. Each clinical research unit has an adjacent lab space, and an additional lab space is located on the 4th floor of the hospital. Please note that Lab Use instructions are attached on this page.
Please note that as part of the re-opening plan during the COVID-19 pandemic, research subjects coming to the Collins Clinical Research Unit from the street/parking should enter the building from Hospital Drive (at the Collins Wing entrance). They should be met at the entrance by study personnel. See attached guidance for details.
