Alliance Oncology Clinical Research Professional (CRP/CRC) Training

The Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology (Alliance) was created in July 2011 by the merger of three National Cancer Institute (NCI) funded cancer cooperative groups: American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG), Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB), and North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG). The mission of the Alliance is to reduce the impact of cancer by: * conducting high quality multidisciplinary cancer control, prevention, and treatment trials that engage a comprehensive research network; * furthering our understanding of the biological basis of the cancer process and its treatment, from discovery, to validation, to clinical practice; * and providing a scientific and operational infrastructure for innovative clinical and translational research in the academic and community settings. As you begin your career as a Clinical Research Professional (CRP) or Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC), we know there will be many questions which may arise and at times can seem overwhelming. The CRP Committee is here to guide you through the process and provide the tools you need for success in your new role. At each Alliance Spring Group meeting, held in May, we offer a four hour CRP Orientation including orientation to the NCI CIRB, the specimen tracking system BioMS, RAVE data management training, the Alliance Organizational structure, Eligibility check training, RECIST training and more. To get started we have provided useful links and helpful tools in order to familiarize you with the process and review all the important aspects of your role as a CRP: * CRP Handbook (attached here): An overview of the clinical trial components, the role of research in standard of care, requirements of informed consent, patient education, study development process, terminology and abbreviations, and online resources. * General Stage of Treatment Summary (attached here): A comprehensive list of therapy stages in treatment and their definitions. For example: neoadjuvant therapy. * Alliance Website Training: Public Side and Member Side * Alliance CRP Orientation * Resources for Clinical Research Professionals: Once logged into the website: Go to the Alliance Member Side of the website -> Training and Resources -> Online Training ->Site Staff (on the side bar) Resources for Clinical Research Professionals. * Glossary of Abbreviations, Acronyms and Terminology: \Alliance Glossary\
