iTHRIV Scholars Project: Characterization of Millennial caregivers of persons with cognitive decline: identifying intervention targets using a mixed-methods approach.

The long-term goal of the proposed research is to provide an accessible, effective, and readily adopted intervention for burdened Millennial caregivers of persons with cognitive decline (PwCD). To ensure the developed/adapted intervention meets the needs of Millennial caregivers, we will first rigorously characterize the sociodemographic background and mental health needs of this population. Specifically, we will compare sociodemographic (i.e., demographics, lifestyle factors, and caregiving characteristics) and mental health (i.e., symptoms of depression, anxiety, subjective burden, quality of life, and self-efficacy) characteristics between Millennial and older generations of caregivers of PwCD using online surveys, followed by qualitative focused groups.
