Stroke and COVID
This project uses UVA clinical data as well as the limited dataset National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) data to characterize COVID-19 patients who suffer stroke. The focus will be on ischemic stroke but it will also explore bleeding strokes (hemorrhagic stroke). We will explore if there are particular patterns that suggest that the COVID-19 stroke population is different from the general stroke population. The N3C Data Enclave is a secure platform through which the harmonized clinical data from over 50 sites is available for the purposes of COVID-19 research. The row level data itself can only be accessed through a secure cloud portal hosted by NCATS and cannot be downloaded or removed. Aggregate project results approved for export by NCATS are stored here in the iTHRIV Research Data Commons. Local UVA datasets are also stored here and shared appropriately (with identified data only visible to those on IRB protocol who are under HIPAA covered entity).
