REDCap Extract Demo

Dataset Files: The associated dataset file is not public.

This dataset is auto-populated on a scheduled basis based on data stored in REDCap. If the data has not changed since the last export, no new version will be made. Dataset Administrators or Dataset Collaborators on a dataset of TYPE REDCap want to associate an active REDCap database research project dataset with their Research Data Commons project. As the owner of the REDCap project, you are also the data steward for that dataset and subsets of the data. A REDCap data dictionary file can also be added to its own REDCap dataset object. After navigating into the correct research data project, open the desired dataset with TYPE REDCap (A) for which you have access to. If the dataset object does not already exist, follow the Add New Dataset instructions to create the object, and remember to select TYPE REDCap at the top of the form. The system will prompt you to fill out the following additional fields (B): Project URL (required): Paste web URL of the desired REDCap Project in this field to index your project data. Extract Data (required): Instead of manually downloading and saving the dataset extracts elsewhere before transferring them to the Commons, you can also export the data extracts (REDCap reports) directly to the Commons. When the dataset object with this field = Export Data Dictionary Only or Export Redcap Report is created, the user UPLOAD dataset feature is disabled. Any files associated with this object will be coming directly from REDCap. These extracts will be immediate and automatically refreshed each time a user accesses that dataset object. When Export Data Dictionary Only or Export Redcap Report is selected, the system will prompt the user to fill out the following three additional fields Project Token: If no token is entered, you will receive instructions from a REDCap Admin within two business days regarding how to get a token.Email RedCap@hscmail.mcc.virginia.edu to obtain a token. Report ID: Paste the ID of a report of a REDCap project to be used for extracting a limited set of data from the REDCap project. If no value is provided then all data of a REDCap project will be extracted. The system will also read the extracted file’s metadata and automatically populate the fields listed below when Extract Data is TRUE. REDCap Project Title (auto-populated): Title of the REDCap project as listed in REDCap at the time of an auto-extract from REDCap to the Commons. REDCap Project PI (auto-populated): Name of the REDCap project PI as listed in REDCap at the time of an auto-extract from REDCap to the Commons.
