The National Clinical Cohort Collaborative (N3C) is an expansion of the National COVID Cohort Collaborative (also N3C). The acronym is being retained as NCATS is repurposing the systems/platform designed for COVID research to support research in ANY area approved by NCATS. A single institutional data transfer and data use agreement covers any projects done in N3C Clinical. This project is initially being run as a pilot with a new Cancer Enclave and new Renal Enclave in the process of being stood up by NIH. Sites are invited to participate by enclave owners.

Information about the data being sent to NIH is available on this GitHub page. A subset of that data is extracted into a controlled workspace for each research project, and will only contain health record data for patients belonging to the project-specified cohort as approved by NCATS. Institutions elect which research projects they will contribute data to.

UVA is helping to lead two of the three pilot projects: Steroid Regimens in COPD and Characterization of Comorbidities and Alzheimer's/Dementia Sub-Types.

For UVA researchers working in N3C Clinical, this UVA IRB letter should be uploaded with your data use requests, when prompted by the system.
